The area where Virginia, North Carolina, and Tennessee connect is a special place for those of us who love mountains, wilderness, and the culture that is created by this ruggedness. I fell in love with this area when I hiked past on my Appalachian Trail thru-hike in 1995. Since then I have returned several times to reconnect with the beauty, remoteness, and energy of my younger years.

This tour is the absolute epitome of what northern Colombia has to offer. The tour is spread out over three different sections. Our coastal section includes river tubing, goat-trail off road riding, a night in a luxury beach villa and cliff jumping at a hidden waterfall. The Jungle section where we visit a wildlife sanctuary, coffee farm, ride two hours through the night in search of the snowy-peak sunrise, and sleep overnight at a mountain-top infinity pool. In the desert section; an enduro rider’s dream, we charge across desert plains “Mad Max” style, maneuver technical rocky sections and sand pits, all the while taking in some of the most unique and untouched landscape in Colombia.

Nothing brings learning to life like real-world experience. This week-long trip’s engaging lesson plan gives kids an education in biology and ecology that can never be found in a textbook. Here, spend the days (and nights!) studying the flora and fauna that inhabit the cloud forest and Manuel Antonio National Park. Elsewhere, get in touch with the land by rappelling, rafting, swimming, horseback-riding, and even surfing all over it. Science + gym? You do the math.
